JLL Launches Multifamily Property Management Group, Canvas Appoints COO, Avison Young Hires Data Center Veteran

JLL has added multifamily to its list of property management services and has chosen a 30-year industry veteran in its Chicago office to lead the charge.

Managing Director Lela Cirjakovic will work with national and regional leaders to focus on building and growing multifamily client relations for the global brokerage firm.

JLL previously offered property management services for just office, industrial, retail and life sciences spaces. Its new multifamily property management platform will feature asset management, residential programming, technology services and on-site management teams.

The expansion would also allow JLL to fully serve owners of mixed-use properties across the country. Currently, JLL employs 2,300 property management professionals overseeing more than 745 million square feet of commercial space in the United States.

“Our multifamily management experts, supported by JLL’s property management platform, will provide clients unfettered access to industry expert services, resources and attention needed to ensure best-in-class service and property performance,” Cirjakovic said in a corporate statement announcing the move. “I spent the majority of my career on the ownership side, and I will continue to bring that owner mindset to every community we serve.”

Cirjakovic has nearly three decades of experience in real estate asset management, most recently as executive vice president of operations at Waterton, where she oversaw the vertically integrated real estate investment firm’s portfolio of multifamily properties.

Before that, Cirjakovic handled Midwest operations for Chicago-based multifamily property management company Camco as a regional manager and member of its senior executive committee. She previously worked at Midland Property Management and the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
