A blockbuster year for deals | Ireland

When Jason Hariton was head of worldwide production operations and real estate for Netflix, he coined the phrase “hub and spoke” for studio space. The hubs were the large centres of feature production in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Vancouver and London. The spokes were overflows, or smaller emerging markets. These included locations such as Atlanta, Louisiana, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Scotland and Ireland.

Now chief studio and real estate officer of the MBS Group, Hariton last August convinced its backers Hackman Capital Partners and Square Mile Capital Management to acquire Ardmore and Troy studios in Ireland from Olcott Entertainment for $100 million (€88.4 million).
